| Lionel Lionmaster Union Pacific Big Boy. After nearly 4 months in “service” only one problem. The synchronized chuffing & smoke work off a gear attached to the engine flywheel, this either came off or broke. Thus no chuffing or synchronized smoke. One trip to my favorite Lionel service center (who knew what the trouble was right away), I was back in business in under a week. Other than that, this is a great machine. Runs silky smooth, sounds are very good, and the smoke unit is the best I have seen yet. If you want a big engine and you don’t have the luxury of O-72 curves this is certainly worth your consideration.

Great Engine, Not the fastest, However it runs very nice, very smooth even at creeping speed. Great puller--Good smoke out-put, but be careful, it's possible to miss the smoke unit and pour fluid in "the black hole" and miss the unit. I did this for a while & did'nt even realize it untill I saw the leaking mess I was making on the bottom of the engine, I used a hairdryer to dry the engine out and now this Engine smokes like its new again.

| I have to tell you, I was a skeptical about buying anything other than Lionel. Boy I’m glad I did! This machine feels much more like a sturdy piece of equipment than many of the Lionel diesels I have run. It’s also loaded with much more detail than some of Lionel’s offerings. This engine is silky smooth has plenty of torque and is a pleasure to operate. The engineer on board speed control (EOB) takes a little getting used to; however in my option it’s every bit as useful as Lionel’s odyssey system. The couplers operate in a truly amazing fashion, just touch the car you want to pick-up and you’ve got have it, no back and forth, hit it a little harder next time needed here. My only gripe is the smoke unit; it constantly needs attention (prone to air bubbles). Other than that, would I buy another Atlas O 3 rail engine? Absolutely yes!

| UP Lionmaster Challenger
(Lionel # 6-28077)
This will run on 0-31--Thank you Lionel!---It can , will, and does very very well. The sound is great, it runs very smooth. This engine is even better looking in person than in these pictures! It looks, runs, pulls, and spices up an 0-31 layout like nothing else I have ever seen. Only drawback is the smoke unit performs poorly, maybe it's just mine, maybe not, even so--I would say over all this would have to be a MUST HAVE for the 0-31 steam enthusiast.

(Lionel # 6-38746)
A Bargin!, Fast, and to date completly trouble free! Everything works and works really well. I would recomend this on it's "durability" alone. Engine, tender, the whole unit is diecast, I'm thinking this thing will last forever! Couple that with great features that all work very well --sound, smoke , speed, lights, couplers, and you have one bulletproof bargin that is truly fun to run and watch.

Talk about easy on the eyes! Great looking, all of Lionel's high end features. TMCC, Odyssey, Rail sounds 5 synchronized smoke. Runs very smooth, smoke is fantastic. Only gripe is it needs more power, it will not win any races pulling 5 scale passenger cars. Oh well I guess when you live in the steam era you may have to make a sacrifice now and again. Overall it’s a very nice machine!

| N.P. RS11 Diesel
(Lionel# 6-28545)
Fast, depenable, all around good. The black and yellow colors make for a attractive package. The smoke output is almost overwelming! It's constant and its heavy. I like that. Very good runner from a crawl all the way up to too fast. Sound is good also. I find I aways have this on one the track. Super smooth--I REALLY LIKE THIS ONE

| SP 40T DIESEL
(Lionel# 6-28541)
This is an engine loaded with detail, very good looking. This is also made in two other road names, however the Southern Pacific is the only one with the "Operating Mars Light" Thats the light on the front that flashs on & off when the engine is moving. It's fun to watch. Very smooth and powerfull an all around classic. The sound is really unique, these engines have air intakes near the ground to take in cooler air when going through long tunnels so they would not overheat. I can tell you this sound is awesome! The smoke--WOW-- works and works very well--for pulling long consists of freight through the mountians in the west or long consists of freight cars around your train-room this is a great engine.

| N.Y. J3A Lionmaster Hudson
(Lionel # 6-38045)
It is back from the shop, (6-weeks) and I must say, fantastic!, fixed---it runs great. This is a great engine. I do however recommend, if you going going to buy one of these, buy from a dealer were you can "track test" the engine first to make sure the railsounds work properly both in forward and reverse on straights & around the corners.

| BURLINGTON NORTHERN GP30
(Lionel # 6-28840)
This I like, seems if the nice Red & Ready "Look" does not get you the --reasonable price and full features will. This one does it all. Only gripe I have is you have to take the grill over the smoke unit off to add fluid, and I know I'm going to loose that thing one day. But Iwould buy it again, and if I see one on sale I might even buy another one. This engine is a really nice nice. It's not really big like the SP40T, so, I'm thinking if you have a modest sized layout and you are thinking "lash-ups" this would be the engine, well this, or the RS11, tough choice they are both really nice, powerful and run VERY VERY well.
